\"FullChristophe BERTSCH, 48, directs the grapeVine, Biotechnology and Environment Laboratory at the University of Haute-Alsace in Colmar. His specialty is wood diseases. He leads the Eur\u00e9ka project, one of the first nine programs selected by the Ministry of Agriculture as part of the “Action plan against declining vineyards”. The idea is to find preventive but also curative solutions,” insists the researcher. And for that, he does not hesitate to take inspiration from the work of colleagues in other disciplines such as forestry. “To invent is to think outside the box,” said Alfred EINSTEIN. He regularly reminds his teams of this.<\/p>\n

He is exploring endotherapy, which consists of injecting active molecules into the core of the vine’s trunk so that they act directly on the pathogens present in the white rot. He is also working on double grafting and the impact of cultural practices.<\/p>\n

In April 2018, he took over the direction of the Alsatian vineyard technical commission. The objective: to federate and coordinate all Alsatian research with the interprofession (Civa), the winegrowers’ unions (Ava), the technical institutes (IFV and the chamber of agriculture). Topics addressed: spraying, relations with local residents, flavescence dor\u00e9e, plant material… and of course wood diseases.<\/p>\n

Our 20 of wine<\/p>\n

Chosen and written by the editors of the magazine \u201cLa Vigne\u201d and the website Vitisphere, here are the portraits of 20 personalities of the wine industry:<\/p>\n
